Valeriana - Valerian
Valeriana is most widely used as a sleep aid and for anxiety relief, promoting mental and physical relaxation. Valeriana is a very strong smelling herb which may be off putting to some. One can minimize the smell and bitter taste by adding sugar, milk or lemon to the tea.
Valeriana may lower the time needed to fall asleep as well as improve the quality of sleep with continued use, especially for those stopping the use of sleeping pills. This makes a great choice for anyone suffering from insomnia. It is noted to be especially effective when combined with Toronjil (Lemon Balm).
With daily use, it may be effective in treating symptoms of menopause, menstrual cramps and stress by reducing blood pressure, heart rate and tension.
Traditional Tea
1 Liter
Boil 1 liter of water
Add 1/4 of the bag
Let simmer for approximately 15-20 minutes, the longer it is steeped the stronger the tea will be
